Lizard's Day Out

Find the dragon in the trees
munching out on mulberry leaves.
Who knows how he
escaped the cage of misery.
I hear his captors call as if he would obey
tempted home by limp lettuce woven into lariats.
They passed under his claws clinching the bark
and never saw his beady eye staring down
or heard the sound of munching close to where I sat.
I did not help them clearly see:
and I believe he winked at me.
